In the vast kingdom of culinary arts, one hero reigns supreme—my dad, Mr. Gulu Anand. The title "King of My Castle" is not just a term of endearment but a tribute to a man whose life and career embody the essence of mastery and mentorship in the gastronomic world. My dad is not only my role model but a beacon of inspiration and a true soldier in his field.
Dad approaches every culinary challenge with a "can-do" attitude that is unbelievably positive and contagious. No task is too big; no recipe too complicated.
His journey hasn't been a simple stroll through the spice markets; it's been a rigorous path that he has paved with dedication, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. His efforts have propelled our family's restaurant brand to the heights it enjoys today, setting a benchmark in the industry and creating a legacy that I am incredibly proud to be part of.
Growing up under his tutelage, I aspired every day to mirror his tenacity and passion. To me, he was—and remains—my real-life superhero. Whether we're cooking side by side in our kitchen or presenting our creations on television, our duo, "Dipna and Dad," has not only created a buzz but also captured hearts, showcasing the magic that happens when familial bonds blend with professional prowess.
I salute my dad, Mr. Gulu Anand, for being the hardest working person I have ever known. His example has shaped my life, my values, and my dreams. He is not just the king of my castle—he is the architect of an empire built on flavour and the fires of ambition.
Thank you, Dad, for every lesson, every laughter, and every dish we’ve shared. Here’s to many more years of inspiring and leading the way—both in the kitchen and in life.
My journey to becoming a chef is deeply influenced by the steadfast support and boundless inspiration of my parents, Gulu and Shushma. They are the foundation of my dreams, encouraging me to aim high. Each morning, I wake up grateful for their love and motivation, knowing I am blessed with the most supportive and loving parents.
Despite battling Parkinson's, my mother embodies strength and resilience as she continues to cook the most incredible meals for me. Watching her in the kitchen as a child was a privilege beyond measure. Her mastery of different dishes, combined with Dad's expertise in restaurant-style cooking, laid the foundation of my culinary journey. Mum's ability to create magic in the kitchen despite her health struggles is nothing short of inspiring. Her courage in facing adversity fuels my determination to excel.
Dad, my pillar of strength, constantly motivates me to aim higher. His belief in my abilities pushes me to climb the ladder of success with confidence. Together, Mum and Dad are my guiding lights, reminding me that with their love and support, I can conquer any challenge.
Parents are truly a gift, and I owe all my achievements to them. Their happiness is my greatest treasure, and I am endlessly thankful for their presence in my life. Mum, Dad, you are my everything.
Family is the cornerstone of my life and my culinary journey. I cherish every moment spent with my loved ones, especially when we're cooking up a storm together. My brother, Shanks, is not just a sibling but also my trusted partner in our family restaurant business. His dedication to managing our bustling retail business with the Compass Group UK is inspiring. Despite his busy schedule, Shanks always finds time to support my culinary endeavours, lending his expertise and injecting fresh ideas into the Dipna Anand brand.
But it's not just Shanks who contributes to our family's culinary legacy. His wife, Cherry, plays a pivotal role too. Through her hairband business, BZU by Cherry, she adds her creative flair to my chef persona. I'm fortunate to have Cherry craft bespoke hairbands for me, adding a personal touch to my appearance on shoots and television shows.
And then there are my precious nephews, Reeve and Chevi, and my niece, Zuri. They are the sunshine that brightens my world. Cooking with them is not just about creating delicious treats; it's about nurturing their curiosity and passion for food. Their favourite recipes always lean towards the sweeter side—cookies and chocolate cakes are their specialties. Seeing their faces light up as they mix, measure, and taste reminds me of the joy that family brings.
Family isn't just about blood relations; it's about the bonds we forge through shared experiences and unconditional love. In the whirlwind of the culinary world, they are my constants, grounding me and reminding me of what truly matters.
To everyone fortunate enough to have a mother,
Allow me to paint a vivid portrait of the extraordinary influence my mum has had on my life. From my earliest memories, she welcomed me into the heart of her kitchen, where the tantalizing aromas of her cooking danced around us like playful spirits. With patience and love, she shared the sacred secrets of her culinary prowess, instilling in me a deep appreciation for the magic that unfolds when simple ingredients are touched by her hands.
Even as Parkinson's casts its shadow, Mum remains a beacon of strength and positivity. Her resilience in the face of adversity is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Each day, she greets the world with a smile, proving that courage and grace can triumph over even the most daunting challenges.
A mother's love is a precious treasure—a guiding light that illuminates our darkest paths. It is in her embrace that we find solace, in her laughter that we find joy, and in her wisdom that we find direction.
Let us cherish every moment, every shared laugh, every loving gesture, for these are the threads that weave the tapestry of our lives.
So, to all who have been blessed with a mother's love, I urge you to cherish it, nurture it, and honour it each and every day.
Thankful for maa.
